pulling him in every direction at once.

Somewhere within him,
he knows that he
has wandered too far,

he knows that he must find
a way to return,

he knows that someone is waiting,

someone not too far away
is counting the hours
until he returns.

But as the calls from every corner multiply
and the colors burn hotter,

nearly blinding him with heat
and sharp red seduction,

his attention can’t quite settle
on where it is
that he should return to.
